My stay at Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Kyoto, was quite a mixed experience. While the location by the Hozugawa River was stunning and conveniently close to attractions like the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, the service could be inconsistent. The room's amenities were well thought out, especially the en-suite onsen, yet the overall cleanliness and maintenance left something to be desired, which was disappointing for a luxury hotel. Overall, I felt it provided a unique experience but could improve in certain areas.

I loved the spacious room with a amazing view of the river. The en-suite onsen was an absolute treat, but I did find some cleanliness issues that should not be common in such a luxury setting.
Service
7.0
While some staff were incredibly accommodating, my experience varied, which left me feeling a bit unsupported at times, especially when I encountered issues in my room.
Location
9.0
The hotel is perfectly situated by the river, making it a beautiful and serene spot. It's also within walking distance to major sights like the Bamboo Forest and Unesco shrine, which I appreciated.
Dining
6.0
I had high hopes for the dining options, but found the food to be average for the prices charged. The champagne hour was a nice touch, but I wished for more options for extending the evening.
Facilities
6.0
The overall facilities were decent, but I felt there could have been more seating areas within the gardens. Room service and amenities generally met my needs, though a bit more attention to detail in upkeep would enhance the experience.

My stay at Suiran was a beautiful escape from the busyness of Kyoto. The stunning location by the river and the good private onsen in my room were major highlights. However, I found the room slightly basic and would have appreciated more dining options.
Rooms

My room combined modern and traditional styles, and while it felt a bit basic at first, the private garden and onsen made it really good.

I had high expectations for my stay at Suiran, but it had its ups and downs. While the location is beautiful, by the river and close to the Arashiyama area, my experience with the service and room cleanliness fell short of luxury standards. Overall, the staff was friendly and accommodating, but the room issues were disappointing, especially for a Category 8 hotel.
Rooms

I encountered several cleanliness issues in both rooms I stayed in, which was unacceptable for a luxury hotel. Room 106 had water stains and a dirty telephone. After switching to room 112, I found more cleanliness problems. This definitely needs improvement.
Service
7.0
The front desk staff was helpful in addressing my issues and found me a new room. However, I found the initial check-in process lacking in information about amenities and services, which was disappointing for a hotel of this caliber.
Location
9.0
The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the river and close to the Arashiyama bamboo forest. It offered a peaceful retreat from the typical tourist hustle and bustle.
Dining

I enjoyed the complimentary tea set during the happy hour, but the service could have been clearer about what was included and the options they provided. Overall, I appreciated the location and ambience during those moments.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel has beautiful surroundings and nice facilities, including a lovely cafe by the river. However, the reservation system for the onsen could be better communicated to guests.

My stay at Suiran, A Luxury Collection Hotel in Kyoto was mixed. The location is absolutely stunning, nestled along the river with beautiful views of the surrounding nature. The service was fantastic, with warm welcomes and personal attention from the staff. However, I encountered several cleanliness issues in two separate rooms, which was disappointing for a hotel of this caliber. Overall, while I appreciated the ambiance and customer service, the room conditions were not up to the expected standards of a luxury hotel.

The staff provided attentive service, ensuring my experience was enjoyable. However, I felt the dining options could use some improvement, especially in providing more variety, particularly for dinner.
